How to Care for Suede Boots

How to Care for Suede Boots

Suede and suede-touch boots have a soft, rich look, but they need a little extra attention. With a few simple habits, your boots will look great for many seasons.

Protect before you wear

Before the first wear, treat your boots with a suede protector spray. Hold the can about 15 cm away, spray evenly and let them dry completely. Repeat every few weeks during wet months.

Brush regularly

Use a soft suede brush to remove dust and lift the nap. Always brush in one direction. For scuffs, a suede eraser or a clean pencil eraser often works well.

Dealing with water and stains

If your boots get wet, blot them with a dry cloth and stuff them with paper to keep their shape. Let them dry naturally, away from heaters or direct sunlight, then brush gently. For stubborn marks, use a cleaner made specifically for suede.

Store them well

Keep boots in a cool, dry place. Boot shapers or rolled-up magazines help tall boots stay upright and prevent creases. Avoid plastic bags; a breathable cotton bag protects them from dust.
